Mit Grunge Attitüde und ‘Bubble-Gum Pop’-Herz kombiniert SAKURA 90er Jahre Nostalgie mit ihrem „Liebes Tagebuch“ Schreibstil und melodischem Schlafzimmer-Pop zu ihrem eigenen, unwiderstehlichen Indie-Rock.

Geboren und aufgewachsen in Hongkong, erwachsen geworden in London, zog Sakura nach Wien, Österreich und gründete dort ihre Band im Jahr 2019. Seitdem veröffentlichte sie eine Handvoll Singles, die ihr auf diversen Medien Berichte (analoger Trash, Clout Mag, Chalkpit Records), Airplay (FM4) erhalten , Soho Radio) und Playlist-Platzierungen (u.a. bei Spotify “Indie brandneu”, Alexrainbird, Sofarsounds) einbrachten. 

Sakura etablierte sich mittlerweile als aufstrebende Independent Künstlerin und supportete live bereits einige lokale und internationale Künstler in der Indie-Rock-Welt wie Mitski, Peter the Human, Plási und Hån. 

Derzeit arbeitet sie an ihrem Debütalbum in voller Länge, das im Sommer 2022 veröffentlicht werden soll. 

Neben ihrer neuen Single “Call it Divine” wird sie auch einige andere Songs des Debüts bei ihrer Show in der Gig Box am 29.05. präsentieren.

With a Grunge attitude and ‘Bubble Gum’ Pop heart, Sakura combines 90s nostalgia, a ’deardiary’ approach to lyricism and melodic bedroom pop to create her own brand of compelling Indie Rock. Born and raised in hong kong and matured in London, Sakura moved to Vienna, Austria and formed her band in 2019. She has since released a handful of singles garnering her media support (analogue trash, clout mag, chalkpit records) radio play (fm4, soho radio) and playlist features (Spotify editorial indie brandneu, alexrainbird, sofar sounds).

sakura has firmly established herself as a fiercely independent and exciting emerging artist – live she has played support to local and international artists in the indie rock world such as mitski, Peter the Human Boy, Plási and Hån.

She is currently working on her debut full length album which is scheduled to be released in summer 2022.

Aside from her new single “Call it Divine”, she’ll present quite a few of the debuts songs exclusively live at Gig Box on 29 May, 2021.
